Tripletail: These odd-looking fish are the stars of our show and for good reason. Tripletail are the ultimate tricksters of the sea, often floating on their sides near the surface, mimicking floating debris. Don't let their lazy appearance fool you – once hooked, they put up a fight that'll have you grinning from ear to ear. They average 5-15 pounds, but we've seen some real bruisers push past 20! The best part? They're absolutely delicious, making them a favorite for both sport and table fare.
Tarpon: Known as the "Silver King," Tarpon are the heavyweight champs of inshore fishing. These prehistoric beasts can grow over 6 feet long and tip the scales at well over 100 pounds. When you hook into one, hold on tight – they're famous for their gill-rattling jumps and blistering runs. Tarpon fishing is catch-and-release, but the memories of battling these giants will last a lifetime. The best time to target them is during their spring and early summer migration, when they show up in good numbers around Apalachicola.
Look, fishing in Apalachicola isn't just a pastime – it's a way of life. And we're here to give you a taste of what makes it so special. With our expert guides, top-notch gear, and insider knowledge of the local waters, you're in for a fishing trip you'll be bragging about for years to come. Whether you're after that trophy Tarpon photo or just want to fill the cooler with some tasty Tripletail, we've got you covered. Spots fill up fast, especially during peak seasons, so don't wait around. Grab your hat, slap on some sunscreen, and let's get out there and bend some rods!

Tarpon are the silver kings of these waters. These prehistoric-looking fish can reach 8 feet and 280 pounds, but 4-footers around 100 pounds are more common. They're famous for their spectacular aerial acrobatics - nothing beats seeing a 6-foot tarpon launch itself skyward. We target them in shallow coastal waters and estuaries, especially at dawn using big swim baits. Spring through summer is prime time as they migrate through. Tarpon aren't prized for eating, but the sheer power and challenge make them a bucket-list catch for many anglers. When you hook one, keep your rod tip up and let them run - these fish will test your arms and your gear. It's all about the thrill of the fight with these giants.
Tripletail are a unique catch around here. These odd-looking fish grow to about 3 feet and 40 pounds, but most we see are 18 inches and 2-13 pounds. You'll find them near the surface, often disguised as floating debris. They're ambush predators, so we sight fish for them along weed lines using light tackle. Peak season is summer, especially July and August. Tripletail put up a scrappy fight for their size and have delicious white meat similar to snapper. The trick is to cast past them and slowly drag your bait in - they spook easily. Shrimp and small crabs work great. Just watch those razor-sharp gills when you're handling one. It's a fun, challenging fish that keeps you on your toes.
